Milturn expands 5-axis CNC machining capability

Milturn Precision has expanded its 5-axis CNC machining capability with the installation of a new Matsuura MX-330. This investment strengthens Milturn’s ability to deliver complex parts with higher accuracy and improved efficiency for defence, aerospace and industrial manufacturing projects.
Advanced precision machining
Milturn’s new 5-axis CNC machining capability enables the production of complex components in a single setup, improving accuracy and streamlining manufacturing. The Matsuura MX-330 combines full five-axis performance with a compact footprint and high-speed BT40 spindle options up to 20,000 rpm, providing strong torque for materials such as aluminium, stainless steel and pre-hardened steels.
Its automation-ready design, featuring pallet and tool systems, supports reliable, lights-out production to maximise productivity and consistency. Advanced software optimises cutting tool paths and rotary axes movement, achieving smooth surface finishes and dependable dimensional control.
The Matsuura MX-330 5-axis VMC with PC10 pallet system offers a working envelope of X: 435 mm, Y: 465 mm and Z: 560 mm, with A-axis rotation from –125° to +10° and 360° C-axis rotation. This configuration provides exceptional flexibility for multi-face machining and precision manufacturing within a compact footprint.
Built for precision and reliability, this technology strengthens Milturn’s ability to deliver high-quality, cost-effective parts with reduced setup times and repeatable accuracy, supporting customers across the defence, aerospace and industrial sectors.
Delivering precision and productivity
“Every investment we make is driven by our customers’ needs. The MX-330 gives our engineers more flexibility and accuracy, helping us deliver complex components on time and to the quality standards our partners expect.” Steve Mead, Group Operations Director at Milturn Precision, said.
The new machine strengthens Milturn’s manufacturing capability, creating greater flexibility for both prototype and production projects. With enhanced accuracy, shorter setup times and improved throughput, Milturn continues to provide reliable results for customers where precision matters most.
